For my weekly NFL Mock Drafts, the draft order will be based on my power rankings (posted along with my Mocks) until week 9, when I will switch over to http://www.tankathon.com and their “if the draft was held today” order.

Pick Team Player 2024 Stats Commentary
1

Carolina Panthers

QB Carson Beck, Georgia – 6’4, 220 lbs 41-58, 520 yards, 7 TD, 0 INT Moving on from the top overall draft choice after two seasons would be unprecedented, but it may be necessary. Bryce Young had shown zero signs of becoming a good NFL quarterback, and Carolina is the laughingstock of the NFL world. New General Manager Dan Morgan and head coach Dave Canales have no ties to Young, and after missing out on Caleb Williams last year, may need to be bold in hopes of turning this franchise around. Carson Beck is the anti-Bryce Young. Big, strong and, as a fifth year senior, experienced. He has been nearly perfect through Georgia’s first two games.

New York Giants

QB Quinn Ewers, Texas – 6’2, 210 lbs 44-63, 506 yards, 6 TD, 1 INT The decision to extend Daniel Jones has been catastrophic for the Giants. I expect his Giants career will come to an end within the next month or so, meaning a replacement will be needed. It is still very early, but I see Carson Beck and Quinn Ewers separating a bit from the rest of the quarterback pack. Ewers has a nice combination of arm strength, agility, experience and the attitude to be great. He should quickly endear himself to Giants fans who have had to suffer through the Jones era.

Las Vegas Raiders

CB Will Johnson, Michigan – 6’2, 202 lbs 6 tackles, 1 INT The Raiders need a quarterback, yes, but they also need talent at basically every other position on the field. Will Johnson is my top rated prospect in this class. He has great size, natural ability and the ability to make plays, as evidenced by an 86 yard pick six earlier this year. Las Vegas has lacked a true shut down cornerback since the Nnamdi Asomugha days. Johnson is an absolutely fantastic prospect.

Washington Commanders

OT WIll Campbell, LSU – 6’6, 320 lbs N/A Jayden Daniels looks like he is going to be one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the NFL. The issue is he is probably 210 pounds, at best, meaning keeping him protected will be the top priority. What better way to do that than by bringing in his college teammate, Will Campbell. Campbell helped Daniels pave the way towards a Heisman Trophy, and has the prerequisite size and skills to become a franchise left tackle.
5 1053

Tennessee Titans

WR/CB Travis Hunter, Colorado – 6’1, 190 lbs 17 rec, 252 yards, 3 TD The Titans have a few quality veteran receivers on the roster, but both Tyler Boyd and De’Andre Hopkins will be free agents after the season. Travis Hunter is a true two-way superstar. He has the potential to be a force as a slot receiver as well as a play-making cornerback. The only question is will his small frame hold up at the NFL level. It will be a fun story line to follow as the draft creeps closer.

Denver Broncos

WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona – 6’5, 212 lbs 10 rec, 304 yards, 4 TD The Broncos are another team that simply needs everything other than quarterback. Courtland Sutton is getting up there in age, and playoff teams could continue to attempt to entice Denver to trade him. Landing a stud replacement like Tetairoa McMillan could make that decision easier. Tetairoa McMillan followed up a historic week one performance by putting up a 2 catch, 11 yard dud in a close win over an FCS program. Thus is the life of college football. McMillan offers Mike Evans-like ability with his huge frame and catch radius, and would be a strong asset for a young quarterback like Bo Nix.

New England Patriots

OT Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas – 6’4, 320 lbs N/A The Patriots drafted a new quarterback, which is good, but the skill positions and offensive lines are woefully under-talented. New England could go either way, but I think it is always more difficult to find offensive line help in the draft. Some rank Kelvin Banks Jr. ahead of Will Campbell. I am not one of those people, but I am very high on Banks. He is athletic, versatile, and has quite a bit of experience playing in a pro-style offense. He should be able to slide into the troublesome left tackle spot for New England rather quickly.

Arizona Cardinals

EDGE Mykel Williams, Georgia – 6’5, 265 lbs 2 tackles The Cardinals offense has the makings of a good unit, but the defense needs help all over the place. Mykel Williams has the talent to be a top five pick, but is still developing as an all around defender. Williams could be another Travon Walker, a highly recruited Georgia defender who put up average stats, but blew up the combine and pre-draft process.
9 299

Atlanta Falcons

DT Mason Graham, Michigan – 6’3, 320 lbs 7 tackles The Falcons, famously, or perhaps infamously, have drafted an offensive player the past four drafts. All of that helped produce a whole 10 points against Pittsburgh. Perhaps a few of those guys just are not that good? Still, it would be a surprise to see the Falcons pass on defense here. Mason Graham may be as good of a prospect as his Michigan teammate, Will Johnson. He is a complete defensive tackle, who would be a huge asset for the Atlanta defense as a stout run defender and developing pass rusher.
10 17227042013

Minnesota Vikings

CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame – 6’0, 190 lbs 7 tackles The Vikings have struggled to find cornerback help for years, relying on aging veterans like Patrick Peterson and Stephon Gilmore to hold down the fort. Benjamin Morrison is overlooked when compared to Travis Hunter and Will Johnson, but is a legitimate CB1 prospect in his own right. He is quick, shifty and a big time play maker, with 9 career interceptions.
11 15420492021

Cincinnati Bengals

WR Luther Burden III, Missouri – 5’11, 208 lbs 7 rec, 64 yards, 1 TD The Bengals have no long term option at tight end, and could end up losing Tee Higgins after the season. This team needs someone to take some pressure off of Ja’Marr Chase. Luther Burden III is off to a pretty slow start by his standards, but offers WR1 upside as a strong, compact receiver with speed.
12

Cleveland Browns

DT Deone Walker, Kentucky – 6’6, 345 lbs 3 tackles In an ideal world the Browns would pull a Denver Broncos move by admitting a mistake and ridding themselves of Deshaun Watson. Watson’s fully guaranteed contract makes that next to impossible, however. Cleveland is stuck with him, and will just have to figure things out. Defensive line is another pretty big roster need. Deone Walker is a special talent. He is a mountain of a man, but much more athletic than you would think given his size. Walker is off to a bit of a slow start this year, but had 55 tackles and 7.5 sacks as a true sophomore in 2023.
13 907

New Orleans Saints

EDGE James Pearce Jr, Tennessee – 6’5, 242 lbs 1 tackle The salary cap mess created during the late Sean Peyton era has wrecked the Saints ability to either commit to a run or a rebuild. This is a team that is a mess financially and roster wise. Franchise legend Cameron Jordan is finally starting to show his age, and now may be a good time to draft his eventual replacement, especially with someone as talented as James Pearce Jr. available. Pearce Jr. only has one tackle through two weeks, proving that he is still a work in progress. He is very quick and athletic, and racked up 9.5 sacks as a sophomore
14 15291162019

New York Jets

QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado – 6’2, 215 lbs 49-72, 689 yards, 5 TD, 2 INT The Jets are once again hanging their hopes on an aincent Aaron Rodgers. We shall see, but I expect New York fans to be disappointed once again. This team needs a long term option. Shedeur Sanders will go higher than this, but most teams drafting ahead of New York in this mock already has a young quarterback. Sanders has the look of a super-charged game manager. Meaning, he will keep the offense moving and not make many mistakes. He has had to fight for his life behind a terrible Colorado offensive line the past year plus, but has shown remarkable ability and poise despite the circumstances.

Seattle Seahawks

QB Cam Ward, Miami – 6’2, 223 lbs 46-61, 689 yards, 6 TD, 1 INT Even with a new head coach, Seattle will continue to ride with Geno Smith, but eventually a replacement needs to be developed. Cam Ward has had an interesting career, starting his career at Incarnate Word, with stops at Washington State and Miami to follow. He just continues to improve, and the Hurricanes look like a legitimate playoff contender. Ward has solid arm strength and is a quality leader.

Chicago Bears

DE Jack Sawyer, Ohio State – 6’5, 260 lbs 5 tackles, 1 sack The Bears managed to win their first game, even though Caleb Williams had one of the most inefficient games you will ever see a quarterback have. The offense should start humming before long, as that side of the ball is brimming with talent. The defense is still being pieced together, and a pass rusher to line up opposite Montez Sweat should be at the top of the list. Jack Sawyer is a quality all around end, even if his numbers do not pop out at you. A good run defender and sneaky pass rusher, I have always been a fan of his and stubbornly refuse to take him out of the first round of my mocks.
17 970

Pittsburgh Steelers

QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama – 6’2, 225 lbs 23-35, 394 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT The Steelers have tried and tried again to replace Ben Roethlisberger, with middling results. The problem is, this is a team that will always be too good to draft at the top of the first round, so finding a long term option will be difficult. Jalen Milroe has been a quality game manager for an Alabama team that wants to run the ball early and often, only completing 23 passes through two weeks. He has the ability to be more than that in the NFL. He is strong with an accurate arm.
18 593

Indianapolis Colts

SS Malaki Starks, Georgia – 6’1, 205 lbs 3 tackles, 1 INT The Colts have one of the more balanced rosters in the NFL, so it is hard to find an obvious upgrade here. The safety tandem of Nick Cross and Julian Blackmon, while solid, lacks the dynamic play making ability that someone like Malaki Starks could provide. Starks is a solid tackler, and excels as a cover man who can pick off passes.
19 15988562013

Jacksonville Jaguars

DT Walter Nolen, Ole Miss – 6’3, 305 lbs 4 tackles Walter Nolen is a bit like the defensive tackle version of Mykel Williams. He was the top overall recruit in 2022, but has yet to really put it all together. The talent to be a Warren Sapp-like presence is there, however. Jacksonville’s defensive tackle rotation is simply okay. Nolen would provide a giant talent upgrade.
20 644616602020

Los Angeles Chargers

TE Colston Loveland, Michigan – 6’5, 245 lbs 16 rec, 157 yards, 1 TD I am not going to be cute and mock a bunch of Wolverines to Jim Harbaugh’s new team. Unless the fit makes sense, of course. This one does. Colston Loveland has been a target hog for a bad Michigan passing attack, hauling in 16 passes through two games. The Chargers are completely remaking its passing attack, and a solid receiving option like Loveland would fit right in.
21 17683632020

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State – 5’9, 215 lbs 45 carries, 459 yards, 9 TD Rachaad White has a career yards per carry average of 3.6. He will continue to bog down what otherwise is a pretty solid offense. This class should produce several high quality starting running backs, and none better than Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty is putting up College Football 25 on Freshman difficulty numbers through two weeks. He also hauled in 43 catches last year, proving that he is a true three down threat.
22 15073062018

Miami Dolphins

OT Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona – 6’5, 336 lbs N/A The Dolphins have done a decent job piecing together a functioning offensive line, but with the team deciding to go with Tua Tagvailoa long term, they need to keep him healthy. Austin Jackson and Patrick Paul represent a solid tackle duo, but there are no long term options on the interior. Jonah Savaiinaea is a road grating tackle for Arizona who could wind up as an elite guard in the NFL.
23

Green Bay Packers

OT Emery Jones Jr., LSU – 6’6, 315 lbs N/A If Jordan Love is forced to miss an extended period of time, the Packers season could spiral out of control. Green Bay drafted Jordan Morgan in the first round in 2024, but moved him inside to guard. The tackles could still stand an upgrade. Emery Jones Jr. is overshadowed by his stud LSU teammate Will Campbell, but is a first round talent in his own right. He has quite a bit of experience as a pass blocking right tackle.
24 594183342020

Los Angeles Rams

CB Denzel Burke, Ohio State – 6’1, 193 lbs 4 tackles, 1 INT Jameson Wiliams had the game of his life against the Rams, carving up the hapless Tre’Davious White and others. Cornerback has been a need since Jalen Ramsey left town. The field is wide open after the top three stud CB’s are off the board, but I think Denzel Burke is the best of the group. He wisely returned to Ohio State as a senior, and should develop into a first round pick. he is off to a good start, with one interception to his name in 2024.
25 n0fd1z6xmhigb0eej3323ebwq

Buffalo Bills

WR Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State – 6’1, 205 lbs 9 rec, 149 yards The Bills traded Stephon Diggs during the off-season. While they drafted Keon Coleman as a potential replacement, the team needs more. Emeka Egbuka looked like a sure fire first round pick with CJ Stroud throwing to him in 2022, but has failed to replacate that success since. He took a back seat to stud Marvin Harrison Jr. in 2023 and may do the same to freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith this year. Still, he has the strength and route running ability to be a solid second option in the NFL.
26

Houston Texans

OLB Harold Perkins Jr., LSU – 6’1, 225 lbs 11 tackles Houston is doing what a team with a fantastic young quarterback on a rookie contract in a bad division should do; load up on free agents and go for it while you can. This is a pretty deep roster, but you can never have enough pass rushers. If Harold Perkins Jr. was 20 pounds heavier he might be a top ten pick. He has 13 career sacks, but is solid in coverage as well. Off the ball linebackers have to be special to become first round picks, and Perkins Jr. may be that good.
27 17013982017

Detroit Lions

DE JT Tuimoloau, Ohio State – 6’5, 269 lbs 5 tackles, 1.5 sacks The Lions willl thank Jacksonville for passing on Aidan Hutchinson for the next decade, but the team could still use a solid pass rusher opposite him. JT Tuimoloau has put together a workman-like, solid career for the Buckeyes, showing pass rushing ability and quality run defense. He should be a solid starter at the NFL level.
28 406

Dallas Cowboys

RB Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State – 6’0, 219 lbs 22 carries, 163 yards, 3 TD The running back duo of Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle looked as slow and washed as predicted during the Cowboys week one win. Fortunately for them, this running back class looks extremely deep. Ashton Jeanty, Quinshon Judkins, Ollie Gordon and TreVeyon Henderson all look like potential round 1 picks. Judkins is off to a blazing start for his new school, averaging almost 8 yards per carry. He would instantly be the top dog in Dallas.
29 318

Baltimore Ravens

EDGE Abdul Carter, Penn State – 6’3, 259 lbs 8 tackles The Ravens always seem to be on the lookout for young pass rushers to replace departing free agents. Abdul Carter is still a project, but was more productive as a pass rusher than former teammate and 2024 first round pick Chop Robinson, with 11 sacks during his first two years at Penn State.
30 960

Philadelphia Eagles

OG Tyler Booker, Alabama – 6’5, 325 lbs N/A The Eagles probably have the deepest roster in the NFL, which means they could simply draft for depth here. Following the retirement of Jason Kelce, the offensive line has undergone some changes. Mekhi Becton is starting at guard, but that not be a long term option. Tyler Booker is a solid pass blocker who can play almost anywhere along the line.
31 17994552009

San Francisco 49ers

DE Nic Scourton, Texas A&M – 6’4, 285 lbs 3 tackles, 1 sack The 49ers are probably the best team in the NFC, but the defense is aging in a hurry and could use reinforcements. Nic Scourton is the best of a deep Texas A&M defensive line, even without Walter Nolen and JT Overton. He has great size and is a solid athlete.
32 857

Kansas City Chiefs

DT Tyleik Williams, Ohio State – 6’3, 327 lbs 9 tackles, 1.5 sacks The Chiefs are a full blown dynasty, which means they are going to pick at the very end of the first round every single year. It is tough to keep enough young talent in the pipeline, so Kansas City could just go best non-quarterback here. Tyleik Williams is the fourth defensive tackle mocked in the first round, and may be the best athlete of the bunch. He was once recorded running a 4.68 40 yard dash, and has 10.5 career sacks to his name.
