Draft order based on my power rankings, which are posted below the mock draft. Starting with Week 9, I will switch to the “if the draft happened today” draft order.

Pick Team Player 2024 Stats Commentary
1

Carolina Panthers

QB Cam Ward, Miami – 6’2, 223 lbs 148-214, 2219 yards, 20 TD, 5 INT I do hope Bryce Young gets another chance to start games this year, but as it stands now, the Panthers are 95% likely to move on after the season. It is still too early to determine who the top quarterback will be once the draft rolls around. Shedeur Sanders, Quinn Ewers, Cam Ward, Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe could all be under consideration here. I personally have Sanders as my top guy, but Carolina may want to go with the 23 year old veteran and possible Heisman winner in Ward, in hopes of replicating Jayden Daniels success in Washington. Ward may throw a bit too many interceptions, but he is the reason Miami is undefeated. He is a big time gun slinger with a winners mentality.

New England Patriots

WR/CB Travis Hunter, Colorado – 6’1, 185 lbs 49 receptions, 587 yards, 6 TD Will Campbell would make a lot of sense here, but the Patriots are simply the most boring team in the NFL with a roster completely devoid of star talent. Travis Hunter is one of the most talented college football players we have ever seen. He could be a terror out of the slot on offense and shut down one half of the field on defense. Can he realistically play both sides of the ball at the NFL level? I would not put it past him. No matter where he settles in, he would be the most talented player on a woefully unathletic New England roster.
3

Cleveland Browns

QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado – 6’2, 215 lbs 172-237, 2018 yards, 17 TD, 4 INT Deshaun Watson left his talent at whatever Houston massage parlor he frequently visited. He has been a shell of his former self for the Browns, and if they have a chance to draft a young replacement, they have to take it, even at the astronomical cost it would take to eat Watson’s contract. Shedeur Sanders has the Buffaloes competing on a weekly basis, even with an offensive line that has him running for his life basically every play. I appreciate Sanders as a project. He is a real gamer who makes the best of what he has, and has withstood the constant hate everyone seems to throw at him because of who his father is.
4 15988562013

Jacksonville Jaguars

CB Will Johnson, Michigan – 6’2, 202 lbs 14 tackles, 2 INT I really do not know what to say about the Jaguars at this point. It seemed like the franchise was about to turn a corner a couple of seasons ago, but they have done almost nothing but lose the past 12 months. What do they do at this point? I am just going with the best player available with a look at roster needs. Will Johnson is my favorite pure prospect in this class. He has a prototypical speed/size build, and is a big time playmaker, with three pick sixes during his career.
5 670885212020

Las Vegas Raiders

DT Mason Graham, Michigan – 6’3, 320 lbs 21 tackles, 3.5 sacks The Raiders are another team that desperately needs a quarterback, but this roster is just too shallow to pigeonhole this team to the quarterback position. With rumors swirling that Las Vegas will tear down its roster, they may be positioning themselves for an eventual Arch Manning run. Mason Graham is the best defensive prospect available. He’s the rare pass rushing terror from the interior, and has the size and strength to hold up against the run as well. He is a complete defensive tackle.
6 15073062018

Miami Dolphins

OT Will Campbell, LSU – 6’6, 320 lbs N/A It is too early to tell whether the Dolphins will have to think about a Tua Tagovailoa replacement, so I will not go there. Terron Armstead is old, expensive and injury prone. Miami has a great chance to draft his replacement with Will Campbell here. He is an elite tackle prospect, and is one of the few non-quarterbacks in this class who could challenge to be the first player drafted.
7 594183342020

Los Angeles Rams

CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame – 6’0, 190 lbs 20 tackles Despite a terrible start, the Rams still believe they have a win now roster and may not want to try to break in a rookie quarterback in 2025. Benjamin Morrison may be a bit overshadowed by Travis Hunter and Will Johnson, but he is a legitimate CB1 in his own right. He is a tremendous athlete and play-maker, with nine career interceptions to his name.
8 1053

Tennessee Titans

QB Quinn Ewers, Texas – 6’2, 210 lbs 78-108, 890 yards, 9 TD, 3 INT Tennessee has seemingly been on the lookout for a franchise quarterback since the Steve McNair days. Will Levis was a second round pick for a reason. He is not a long term answer. Quinn Ewers has the look of a Brett Favre-like confident fan favorite gun slinger. He will need to prove that he can stay healthy, as he has missed quite a few games during his career with injuries here and there, but he has the chance to be a good one.
9 919

New York Giants

OT Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas – 6’4, 320 lbs N/A The Giants absolutely need a new quarterback, but unfortunately for them, so do several teams drafting ahead of them. I am not a huge Jalen Milroe fan, so I have New York trying to fortify an offensive line that is still a work in progress, especially with Evan Neal quickly entering bust status. Kelvin Banks Jr. has the athleticism to play anywhere along the offensive line, and the experience blocking for more than one future NFL quarterbacks.
10 kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90

Arizona Cardinals

EDGE James Pearce Jr., Tennessee – 6’5, 243 lbs 19 tackles, 2 sacks Arizona has the makings of a solid offense, but the defense is not talented enough to hold its own right now. The Cardinals could use help on every level of the defense. James Pearce Jr. has picked things up since a slow start to the season, with two sacks in his past three games. He is still a work in progress as an overall defensive presence, but the talent is evident.
11 593

Indianapolis Colts

WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona – 6’5, 212 lbs 15 tackles, 0.5 sacks Michael Pittman is the real deal as a WR1, but the Colt shave struggled to develop a secondary receiving option, despite spending several day two picks on receivers. Tetairoa McMillan is putting up monster numbers as a junior. He is a huge target, and his big catch radius could be a plus for an inaccurate quarterback such as Anthony Richardson.
12 15291162019

New York Jets

WR Luther Burden III, Missouri – 5’11, 208 lbs 31 rec, 398 yards, 4 TD The Jets are another team that could use a young quarterback, but they will more likely go the veteran route if Aaron Rodgers retires. This team has simply not been able to develop young quarterbacks, and the owner is more impatient than ever. Garrett Wilson has been an inefficient target hog for New York, mostly because defenses are keying in on him with little else to worry about. Another receiver is badly needed. The Missouri offense has struggled to generate points, but Luther Burden III has still had a relatively solid season. He is a former top five recruit who has the size, strength and speed to be a very good all around WR1 in the NFL.

Seattle Seahawks

QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama – 6’2, 225 lbs 96-132, 1483 yards, 12 TD, 4 INT Geno Smith has had a very impressive late career resurgence, but he is 33 years old and has thrown nearly many picks as touchdowns this season. The Seahawks have invested too much in its skill positions to not aim higher. Jalen Monroe has a good mix of strength, speed, accuracy and decision making. I am not sure he is quite ready to take over an NFL offense as a rookie in 2025. If he can sit behind Smith for a year, he could be a nice long term option. Of course, first round quarterbacks are almost never afforded that luxury these days.

Denver Broncos

WR Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State – 6’1, 205 lbs 40 rec, 526 yards, 6 TD I have my doubts that Bo Nix will be a long term starter in the NFL, but I cannot judge him until Denver gives him some weapons. The skill position talent is woefully thin. Emeka Egbuka has had a very good senior season for Ohio State, playing the physical possession counterpart to freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith. Egbuka has six touchdown receptions during his past four games.
15 907

New Orleans Saints

DE Mykel Williams, Georgia – 6’5, 265 lbs 3 tackles The Saints amazing 2-0 start seems like a distant memory. A usually solid defense was gashed for over 40 points last week, and needs a big time shot in the arm. The pass rush in particular is weak, as Cameron Jordan is nearing the end of a fantastic career and Chase Young has been a non-factor. Speaking of non-factor, Mykel Williams has dealt with injury issues and his junior season has been a wash so far. However, he has top five talent and should ace the pre-draft process. I am not ready to take him out of my first round just yet, despite the lack of production.
16 406

Dallas Cowboys

RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State – 5’9, 215 lbs 126 carries, 1248 yards, 17 TD This match simply makes too much sense to not happen. Dallas has one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL. Ashton Jeanty is putting up College Football 25 on Freshman Difficulty numbers. I never thought I would see anyone threaten Barry Sanders legendary final season at Oklahoma State, but Jeanty has a chance to break those records. Hopefully Boise State does not wear him down too much, but expect him to log monster rushing attempts for the rest of the season.
17 15420492021

Cincinnati Bengals

DT Deone Walker, Kentucky – 6’6, 340 lbs 3 tackles Even with a brutal schedule, Cincinnati has to be very disappointed with a 2-4 record. Other than stud Trey Hendrickson, the defense has struggled to generate any type of pass rush. Deone Walker may never be a double digit sack guy in the NFL, but he is more than just a run plugging boulder. He could help elevate the Bengals defense as a whole.
18 299

Atlanta Falcons

EDGE Abdul Carter, Penn State – 6’3, 259 lbs 27 tackles, 4 sacks Despite trading for Matthew Judon, the Falcons are last in the NFL with five sacks through six games. It is very hard to win if you cannot make the quarterback sweat. Abdul Carter is not quite Micah Parsons, but has shown a nice ability to get after the quarterback and even chase down ball carriers in the open field. He has steadily moved up my board, and could wind up in the top ten when it is all said and done.
19 644616602020

Los Angeles Chargers

DE Nic Scourton, Texas A&M – 6’4, 285 lbs 17 tackles, 4.5 sacks Joey Bosa is one of the more feared pass rushers in the league, but he has only played in 17 games the past two plus seasons. Couple that with the fact that Khalil Mack is an upcoming free agent, and pass rush could quickly be a priority for the Chargers. Nic Scourton is a versatile defender who could excel as a 3-4 pass rushing end. He has great size and moves better than you would expect from a 285 pounder.
20 960

Philadelphia Eagles

DE Jack Sawyer, Ohio State – 6’5, 260 lbs 19 tackles, 2.5 sacks Despite a slow start, Philadelphia has one of the deeper and more balanced rosters in the NFL. They desperately miss Haason Reddick, however. The team only has 11 sacks through five games. Jack Sawyer is not exactly a pass rushing terror, but he is a very solid overall defensive end with the athleticism to play outside linebacker in Philadelphia’s scheme.
21

San Francisco 49ers

OT Emery Jones Jr., LSU – 6’6, 315 lbs N/A The 49ers are a very good, contending team, but the roster is getting old in a hurry. San Francisco takes the best player approach here with Emery Jones Jr. Jones Jr. is overshadowed a bit by Will Campbell, but is a first round pick in his own right. Trent Williams may play until he is 50, but Colton McKivitz is a liability, and Jones Jr. should be an easy upgrade.
22 970

Pittsburgh Steelers

QB Carson Beck, Georgia – 6’4, 220 lbs 142-209, 1818 yards, 15 TD, 5 INT The Steelers will always be too good to draft a top quarterback, so they may have to take a risk here and there. That did not work out with Kenny Pickett, but they try again here with Carson Beck. Beck was getting a bit of number one overall buzz earlier this year, but struggles against top competition has scouts wondering whether or not he can be anything more than a game manager in the NFL, but he represents decent value here.
23 683260482022

Washington Commanders

CB Denzel Burke, Ohio State – 6’1, 193 lbs 20 tackles, 2 INT Washington looks an awful lot like the 2023 Houston Texans. Drafting a quarterback second overall and watching him elevate the entire team. The Commanders are ahead of schedule, but are not without deficiencies, especially on defense. The group of secondary prospects falls off pretty hard after the top three guys, but Denzel Burke has worked his way into the first round as a senior. He has good size, can tackle and has picked off two passes this season. The Commanders have lacked a legitimate CB1 for years.
24 364

Chicago Bears

OT Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona – 6’5, 336 lbs N/A Chicago is well on its way to being a pretty good team for a while. Free agent signings have mostly worked out, but both lines could use a talent upgrade. Jonah Savaiinaea plays tackle for the Arizona Wildcats, but I think he has Pro Bowl potential as a pass blocking guard. The Bears could stand to upgrade the interior of its offensive line.
25 17683632020

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

EDGE Patrick Payton, Florida State – 6’5, 250 lbs 18 tackles, 4 sacks The Florida State season has been an absolute disaster, but Patrick Payton has been a rare bright spot. He is still developing his overall game, but showed what he is capable of with a 3 sack performance against California. The Buccaneers have struggled to generate a consistent pass rush the past few seasons. Payton may be a situational guy, at least at first, but he can get after the quarterback.
26

Houston Texans

DT Walter Nolen, Ole Miss – 6’3, 305 lbs 25 tackles, 2.5 sacks It has not always been pretty, but Houston is sitting at 5-1 on the season, and looks like the clear class of the NFC South. They are in a position to take a swing on Walter Nolen, a former top overall recruit who is still developing as an NFL caliber prospect.  Pass rushing defensive tackles are a rare breed however, so Nolen should not fall too far.
27

Green Bay Packers

OT Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota – 6’6, 330 lbs N/A The Packers may have the deepest roster in the NFL. It is tough to find obvious needs, but both starting offensive tackles will be free agents after the 2025 season, so continuing to invest in the offensive line could be a wise move. Aireontae Ersery could be a plug and play option for a playoff team looking for a bit of a boost at either tackle or guard. He has good size and plenty of experience.
28 318

Baltimore Ravens

OG Tyler Booker, Alabama – 6’5, 325 lbs N/A Baltimore’s once stout offensive line has been ravaged by injuries and free agent departures. Ronnie Stanley is an upcoming free agent, and is on the decline. Tyler Booker may not have what it takes to hang in at tackle, but should be an instant starter at guard, where the Ravens have had to cobble together starters this year.
29 n0fd1z6xmhigb0eej3323ebwq

Buffalo Bills

WR Isaiah Bond, Texas – 5’11, 180 lbs 21 rec, 369 yards, 3 TD Buffalo should not hesitate to continue adding young pass catchers to a roster in need of skill position talent. Isaiah Bond’s move from Alabama to Texas has been a success, as he is averaging almost 18 yards per reception for the nations best team. Josh Allen has the arm strength and accuracy to properly utilize a deep threat like Bond.
30 17013982017

Detroit Lions

DE JT Tuimoloau, Ohio State – 6’5, 269 lbs 15 tackles, 3 sacks The season ending injury to Aidan Hutchinson is heart breaking, no pun intended. The Lions are a Super Bowl contender and Hutchinson was a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Hopefully he can make a full recovery. An additional pass rusher was already a need, even before the injury. JT Tuimoloau never quite developed into a true sack artist, but he has nice size and can get after the quarterback on occasion, as well as provide quality run defense.
31 17227042013

Minnesota Vikings

DT Kenneth Grant, Michigan – 6’3, 339 lbs 12 tackles, 2 sacks The Vikings are unquestionably the top team in the NFC right now. They are solid on both sides of the ball and very well coached. This is not a team without holes, however, especially along the newly formed 3-4 defensive line. Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham make up the top defensive tackle duo in college football. Grant has great size and a sneaky ability to get to the quarterback.
32 857

Kansas City Chiefs

DE Landon Jackson, Arkansas – 6’7, 280 lbs 22 tackles, 2.5 sacks Patrick Mahomes rightly gets all of the publicity, but it is the defense that has carried the Chiefs to a 5-0 start. Kansas City likes to draft defensive lineman early and often. Landon Jackson has great size and a mean streak. He could pack on a few more pounds and move inside, where the Chiefs could use additional help.
