Going forward, the draft order will be based on what they have over at the glorious website that is http://www.tankathon.com. No more power rankings. I do not like to do them, and only did for draft order purposes.

Sorry for the numerous spelling errors in my last draft. I must have been drunk, or my spell check was broken. Quite embarrassing.

Pick Team Player 2024 Stats Commentary
1 y71myf8mlwlk8lbgagh3fd5e0

New England Patriots

WR Travis Hunter, Colorado – 6’1, 185 lbs 60 rec, 757 yards, 8 TD It is very early, but Drake Maye definitely looks the part of a starting quarterback. The next step for New England would be to surround him with offensive weapons and competent pass blockers. Travis Hunter is the most exciting player in college football, and would instantly become the reason to watch Patriots games. Hunter may not be your prototypical number one overall pick, which is usually reserved for quarterbacks or offensive/defensive lineman, but would fill the biggest need for New England.

Jacksonville Jaguars

OT Will Campbell, LSU – 6’6, 320 lbs N/A The Jaguars finally moved on from Cam Robinson, trading him to the Vikings this week. Offensive line was already a big need, and now it may be the biggest. Will Campbell has the look of a franchise left tackle. He is experienced and technically sound, and, while not exciting, would be the best bet here.

New Orleans Saints

QB Cam Ward, Miami – 6’2, 223 lbs 216-322, 3146 yards, 29 TD, 6 INT Once upon a time, the Saints were 2-0 and outscored their opponents by a score of 101-29. Since then, they have gone 0-7, torpedoing what looked like a promising season. This roster was old, broken down, expensive and trapped in a salary cap nightmare. It may be a blessing in disguise though. New Orleans needs to cut bait and restart with a young roster and a new coaching staff. They already got a head start on things by firing Dennis Allen and trading Marshon Lattimore. Cam Ward is not a perfect prospect, but he has worked his way into first overall contention with a sensational senior season. He is experienced, battle tested, and Saints fans will hope he can do for this franchise what Jayden Daniels and Joe Burrow previously did for theirs. Both of those quarterbacks also rose from Day Two types to franchise cornerstones with Heisman Trophy winning senior seasons.
4

Carolina Panthers

WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona – 6’5, 212 lbs 63 rec, 1066 yards, 6 TD Bryce Young has been “better” since returning to the starting lineup,, and while I still have serious doubts as to whether he is a long term answer, he has at least shown enough that Carolina could work on filling some other enormous potholes that remain on the roster. The Panthers traded both Diontae Johnson and Jonathan Mingo, emptying the wide receiver cupboard. Xavier Legette and Ja’Tavion Sanders have shown promise as rookies, and Tetairoa McMillan would be a great target to add. He is huge, athletic and would really help Young hopefully develop.
5

Cleveland Browns

OT Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas – 6’4, 320 lbs N/A Cleveland will probably be in on Shedeur Sanders here, but I believe Coach Prime’s threats that he may not want his son to go to certain situations. I know that ruffles feathers with some football fans, but the younger Sanders is obviously not hurting for money, and Cleveland has been known to be career suicide for quarterbacks in the past. Plus Deshaun Watson is still on the roster. There are too many factors working against that pick, so I will pivot to another direction for the time being. Former first round pick Jedrick Wills did not live up to his first round draft pedigree, and will likely depart as a free agent. Willl Campbell is my favorite offensive lineman in this class, but I could see why many would prefer Kelvin Banks Jr. He is athletic, experienced and could be a Pro Bowler at any position along the offensive line.
6 670885212020

Las Vegas Raiders

QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado – 6’2, 215 lbs 220-300, 2591 yards, 21 TD, 6 INT The Raiders are as dysfunctional of a franchise as Cleveland, but I do not think Shedeur Sanders and camp would have any problem playing for that team. Las Vegas would do wonders for his off the field possibilities, and there is still something to be said about wearing that silver and black. Sanders has shown toughness, leadership ability and a winning attitude throughout his college career, and could help bring this once great franchise back to relevance.
7 919

New York Giants

CB Will Johnson, Michigan – 6’2, 201 lbs 14 tackles, 2 INT The Giants absolutely need a new quarterback, but unfortunately for them, this class has been a bit of a mess. It is debatable if any player remaining would be an upgrade over Daniel Jones, so the Giants will have to roll with him for at least one more year. There are obviously other needs on this roster, including a true shut down cornerback. Will Johnson has done his thing for a struggling Michigan defense, shutting down half of the field and making plays when needed. He has the size and ball hawk skills to be an All-Pro.
8 15073062018

Miami Dolphins

DT Mason Graham, Michigan – 6’3, 320 lbs 33 tackles, 3.5 sacks Free agent departures and injuries have completely ravaged the Miami Dolphins defense. They could use upgrades at all three levels. Mason Graham would be a slam dunk for Miami. He is big, strong, athletic, can hold up against the run and rush the passer. He is a complete defensive lineman and would be an asset in any defensive scheme.
9 1053

Tennessee Titans

WR Luther Burden III, Missouri – 5’11, 208 lbs 40 rec, 450 yards, 4 TD Will Levis is not a starting caliber quarterback, but the remaining options here all have serious warts that may not warrant a high pick. Tennessee desperately needs to add talent to the skill positions. Luther Burden III has had a tough go of it as a junior, but I put that on Missouri’s putrid passing attack. Burden III simply needs to survive this season intact, and he will show during the pre-draft process what makes the former top ten recruit such a talented prospect. He is tough, a solid route runner and quick enough to keep defenses honest. He could be a target hog in the NFL.
10 15291162019

New York Jets

DT Kenneth Grant, Michigan – 6’3, 339 lbs 21 tackles, 2 sacks The desperate Jets traded for Davante Adams and agreed to terms with Haason Reddick ahead of the trade deadline. Reddick will likely depart as a free agent, opening up more needs along the defensive line. Kenneth Grant is obviously a defensive tackle and not an end, but he can provide pass rushing ability from the interior. He has been overshadowed by the amazing Mason Graham, but Grant has developed into a top notch all around tackle in his own right.
11 406

Dallas Cowboys

HB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State – 5’9, 215 lbs 190 carries, 1525 yards, 20 TD The running game has not been kind to the Dallas Cowboys. They cannot run the football offensively, and they struggle to stop the run on defense. Ashton Jeanty to Dallas is the easiest mock fit of the first round. Everyone is making that connection and it easy to see why. Jeanty is putting up historic numbers for Boise State. The only worry is the wear and tear that 300 carries could put on his legs. Dallas will not worry about that. Even with a very disappointing 2024 season, they are built to win now, and would ride him for the entirety of his four year rookie contract.
12 593

Indianapolis Colts

CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame – 6’0, 190 lbs 20 tackles I have been saying in my mocks that I doubt Anthony Richardson is the long term answer for the Colts, and he has now officially been benched. You cannot rule out a quarterback here, but Benjamin Morrison is a superior talent and fills the Colts biggest need. Morrison has likely played his last down for Notre Dame, as the injured corner will turn his attention towards draft preparation. He may not have the size of Will Johnson, but is a tremendous athlete and has a nose for the ball, as evidenced by his 9 career interceptions.
13 15420492021

Cincinnati Bengals

DE Abdul Carter, Penn State – 6’3, 259 lbs 34 tackles, 6 sacks For a team with a losing record, Cincinnati has a deep, solid roster. The Bengals need a pass rusher to take some of the pressure off of Trey Hendrickson. Abdul Carter continues to rise in my mock drafts, and it may not be long until he breaks into the top five. He has transitioned quite well to the old Micah Parsons role for the Nittany Lions, with 6 sacks on the season, including two against dreaded rival Ohio State.
14 17683632020

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

EDGE James Pearce Jr., Tennessee – 6’5, 243 lbs 23 tackles, 4.5 sacks Injuries and tough schedule luck has destroyed what looked like a promising season for the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay’s biggest need remains a consistent pass rush. They have a few decent edge players, but none as talented as James Pearce Jr. After a very slow start to the season, he has picked things up, registering at least a half a sack in Tennessee’s past five games.

Seattle Seahawks

QB Quinn Ewers, Texas – 6’2, 210 lbs 130-188, 1389 yards, 14 TD, 6 INT Quinn Ewers is a tough one to figure out. Most mock sites out there have taken him off of their board, but I am still a believer. He has some Baker Mayfield in him. He will make mistakes, but few quarterbacks in college football possess his natural talent and gun slinger ability. Seattle would be able to slowly develop him behind Geno Smith, and hopefully he can step in in a year or two and be successful thanks to a solid group of skill position talent.
16 594183342020

Los Angeles Rams

OT Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota – 6’6, 330 lbs N/A After a slow start, the Rams are back on track, and could finish on top of a very winnable division. Unfortunately, that pushes them away from Will Johnson Jr. and Benjamin Morrison, both of whom would fill the biggest hole on the roster. Offensive line is also a need area. Aireontae Ersery does not have the name recognition of some of the other offensive linemen in this class, but continues to rise up the board as a safe, ready to contribute option for teams needing a young blindside protector.
17

San Francisco 49ers

DE Nic Scourton, Texas A&M – 6’4, 285 lbs 27 tackles, 5 sacks Injuries continue to decimate the 49ers, which has exposed an alarming lack of young depth on the roster. San Francisco should just draft the best player available. Nic Scourton continues to terrorize opposing quarterbacks, and he is now up to 17 sacks during his three year career. Sitting at 6’4, 285 pounds, he also possesses the necessary strength and size to be an asset against the run.
18 364

Chicago Bears

OT Emery Jones Jr., LSU – 6’6, 315 lbs N/A The Bears have a solid roster, but the offensive line has been an abject disaster. Rookie Caleb Williams is on pace to be sacked over 60 times this season. Chicago has to do a better job of blocking for him. Darnell Wright and Braxton Jones have both been over-matched so far as professionals. Emery Jones Jr. plays right tackle for LSU, but that is mostly because of the presence of Will Campbell. Jones Jr. could take over for Jones at left tackle. The Bears have to do something.

Denver Broncos

WR Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State – 6’1, 205 lbs 46 rec, 577 yards, 7 TD Things are quickly looking up in Denver. The defense has been very solid, and Bo Mix has made progress seemingly weekly. Imagine if he had a full compliment of pass catchers at his disposal. Emeka Egbuka has had a very good senior season for Ohio State, playing the physical possession counterpart to freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith. While he will never replicate his 2022 season, Egbuka continues to gobble up targets, move the chains and find the end zone.

Arizona Cardinals

OLB Jalon Walker, Georgia – 6’2, 245 lbs 22 tackles, 3.5 sacks Thanks to a well rounded offense, Arizona is a real threat to win its division. The Cardinals could use help on every level of the defense, however. Jalon Walker may have punched his first round ticket with a dominating three sack performance against then #1 ranked Texas. He has solid pass rushing ability, and linebacker-like awareness as a run defender.
21 644616602020

Los Angeles Chargers

DT Deone Walker, Kentucky – 6’6, 345 lbs 32 tackles, 1.5 sacks The Chargers have a winning record, but this is a roster with holes all over the place. The defense needs help, especially along the line. Deone Walker is a mountain of a man, but has rare athleticism for a 345 pounder. He has 10 career sacks, showing he is more than just a boulder to drop in the middle on running downs.
22 299

Atlanta Falcons

OLB Mykel Williams, Georgia – 6’5, 265 lbs 9 tackles, 2 sacks No team in the NFL has fewer sacks than the Atlanta Falcons. Matthew Judon was brought in, but that obviously has not been enough. Despite injuries and a general lack of production, I have been high on Mykel Williams most of the season. It is tough to place him ahead of the most established pass rushers, but he is a guy who could shoot up into the top ten if he aces the pre-draft process as expected. For now, the Falcons get a raw defender and local kid who could pay huge dividends in the future.
23

Green Bay Packers

DT Walter Nolen, Ole Miss – 6’3, 305 lbs 29 tackles, 3 sacks The Packers may have the deepest roster in the NFL. It is tough to find obvious needs. The pass rush could use an upgrade, however, especially along the interior. Walter Nolen was the top overall recruit a few years ago, and while he has not set the college football world on fire, he has 8 career sacks and has shown the ability to be a solid starting NFL defensive tackle, with the upside for more.
24 318

Baltimore Ravens

OG Tyler Booker, Alabama – 6’5, 325 lbs N/A Baltimore remains a Super Bowl threat, but losses to the Raiders and Browns are a real stain on the resume. This is always a team that needs to draft very well, since it does not often use free agency to plug holes. Ronnie Stanley is an upcoming free agent, and the interior of the line has been a weakness as well. Tyler Booker is most likely a guard prospect only, but he is a real road grader that could help the Ravens get another year or two out of the ageless Derrick Henry.
25

Houston Texans

OT Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona – 6’5, 336 lbs 27 tackles, 2.5 sacks It has not always been pretty, but Houston is sitting at 6-3 on the season, and looks like the clear class of the NFC South. Like most teams in the NFL, the Texans could use some additional beef along the offensive line. Jonah Savaiinaea plays tackle for Arizona, but his NFL future is probably inside at guard. He could fill a variety of roles for Houston.
26 960

Philadelphia Eagles

DE Jack Sawyer, Ohio State – 6’5, 260 lbs 26 tackles, 2.5 sacks Despite a less than fantastic season, Philadelphia is still sitting at 6-2 and has one of the deeper and more balanced rosters in the NFL. The Eagles love to have a deep rotation of pass rushers, and Jack Sawyer could be an ideal replacement for Brandon Graham. Sawyer is not a pass rushing terror, but is strong, can hold up against the run and can still get after the quarterback on occasion.
27 970

Pittsburgh Steelers

QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama – 6’2, 225 lbs 137-203, 1937 yards, 13 TD, 6 INT With the additions of Mike Williams and Preston Smith, Pittsburgh is going for it. They are always very well coached, experienced and play hard., meaning they will likely never pick high enough to land a true quarterback of the future. Jalen Milroe has his issues, but is mostly accurate, a strong runner and can make plenty of throws. It will take time, but the Steelers could get another year or two out of Russell Wilson, allowing Milroe to develop.
28 17227042013

Minnesota Vikings

CB Denzel Burke, Ohio State – 6’1, 193 lbs 28 tackles, 2 INT The Vikings have fallen off a bit since a 5-0 start, but remain a threat in the NFC. This roster has lacked a legitimate CB1 for years, and Byron Murphy, Stephon Gilmore and Shaquill Griffin are alll upcoming free agents. Senior Denzel Burke has slowly worked his way into the first round, and looks like a nice bet to carve out a long career in the NFL.
29 683260482022

Washington Commanders

DE JT Tuimoloau, Ohio State – 6’5, 269 lbs 26 tackles, 4.5 sacks Washington looks an awful lot like the 2023 Houston Texans. Drafting a quarterback second overall and watching him elevate the entire team. The Commanders traded for Marshon Lattimore, further expediting the rebuild. Washington recently traded former first round picks Chase Young and Montez Sweat, and have yet to fill either hole. JT Tuimoloau never quite developed into a top notch pass rusher, but he is a very solid all around end who can play all three downs.
30 n0fd1z6xmhigb0eej3323ebwq

Buffalo Bills

DT Tyleik Williams, Ohio State – 6’3, 327 lbs 21 tackles, 2.5 sacks The Bills are one of the deeper teams in the NFL, but playoff hopefuls always love to load up on defensive line talent, and Buffalo is no exception. Tyleik Williams is one of the better athletes at the defensive tackle position in this class. He is big but agile, and could be a sneaky source of sacks.
31 17013982017

Detroit Lions

DE Princely Umanmielen, Ole Miss – 6’4, 255 lbs 19 tackles, 7.5 sacks The Lions look like perhaps the best team in the NFL, but the loss of Aidan Hutchinson has been felt. The team traded for Za’Darius Smith, but he is a short term option. All Princely Umanmielen has done during his five year college journey is rack up 22.5 sacks and counting. He is quick and athletic, and pass rushers will continue to dominate the end of the first round of drafts, because playoff teams can never have enough of them.
32 857

Kansas City Chiefs

OT Wyatt Milum, West Virginia – 6’6, 317 lbs N/A Patrick Mahomes has an 11:9 TD to INT ratio, but the Chiefs are still the lone unbeaten team in the NFL. This is a complete roster with a particularly effective defense. Andy Reid loves to draft offensive and defensive lineman. The tackle duo in Kansas City is simply “okay.” Wyatt Milum has quietly become one of the better offensive lineman in the country. He would instantly be a swing tackle with the potential to take over for either Kingsley Suamataia or Jawaan Taylor.
